LOUD NOISES

Just in case you weren't aware, raves are LOUD. It raises the concern of noise ordinances in Greensboro.

In general the law is that a place can't produce noise over 75 decibels before 2:00 am. Then from 2:00 am on ALL NOISE IS BANNED. Well, that's going to be tough to work around.

In Greensboro, 2013 there were:

~ 92 CFS to nightclubs (calls for service)

~ 12 Nightclub citations

That means roughly 13% of complaints result in citations. Citations result in fines up to $200 for the first citation and can reach up to $500 for subsequent citations in the same year. Any citation at all can hit you with a class 3 midemeanor...I have no clue what that means but it doesn't sound fun. And guess what? Even if the owner of a venue isn't present at the time of the citation, they're still liable. That'd be me. Wonderful.

So...in order to avoid paying fines and getting misdemeanors I'm going to need to get creative. The way I see it I have two options: Go Silent Disco style or get a place far enough from Greensboro that it won't be an issue that we're partying til 6:00 am. I vote for the latter. Having a venue farther away does present its own issues, but I'll deal with that later.
