The gang and I headed out to The Underground in Chapel Hill, energy drinks in hand, excited for the night but not knowing what to expect from this event we'd never heard of. Less than 100 people had RSVP'd on facebook, which made me uneasy since I've been so used to huge events in Atlanta with 300+. We aimed to arrive a half hour late, hoping that the event would start kicking up by the time we got there.

Well we arrived and it was already in full swing. The venue was small and cozy - not surprisingly, it was underground. Bar in the corner, pool on the side, and the perfect amount of dance floor for the attendees who were dancing so hard that they obviously gave no fucks about whether 100 or just 10 people came out. Again, I immediately noticed similarities to RaveClean: People found a way to be exactly evenly spaced out while they were dancing. They somehow formed perfect lines emanating out from the stage, looking something like a wifi signal. They needed it I guess, because the energy was high and elbows were flying. My friend actually took an elbow to the head when he first arrived, an unfortunately common thing when you have people dancing so enthusiastically. I've been known to smack people in the face on accident too haha, so I really can't blame them. Beyond the dancing, the attendees had great vibes. A totally non-judgemental and accepting atmosphere. I instantly felt at home.

Finally, we can't ignore the music and the deco. Every single DJ was solid. It was hard to tear myself away from dancing because I was enjoying the music so much. And seriously, look at those decorations. LOOK AT THEM. THEY'RE FUCKING AWESOME. I was taking mental notes on how to do something similar, only to find out later that I had already met the mastermind behind the decorations at a previous event. Small world.

I am so glad I attended this event. Not only did I get my dancing fix, I got to meet the awesome people behind the event and learn some really helpful things about throwing these parties. Between the music, deco, and wonderful people, you can expect to see me at this monthly event any time that I am able to go.
