All the pretty lights

First, I feel bad that I haven't posted in a while. While I'm sure that thinking I have people on the edge of their seats waiting for another post is wishful thinking, I won't get there by not posting, will I? Just know that the slowing of progress is caused by the end of the semester and trying to make the most of this last month before leaving my friends for a new life.
I think it's time for something a little more fun =D
So, how about some pretty lights! Yes, pretty lights, not Pretty Lights (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAncODpky6E). Essentially, what ideas are going to make this place cool?
I know I want a multi-room setup. At least two music rooms and one chill room for lounging and other shenanigans.
First I'll start with these assumptions:
1. If something can go wrong, it will.
2. I cannot expect anything to stay clean.
Assumption one assumes that anything you'd assume to be safe in day to day life can be made unsafe by dimly lit rooms, slippery floors, and various degrees of inebriation. Assumption two assumes that drinks will be spilled, people will be smoking inside (whether or not we want them to) and sweat is going to be...sweated lol.
The two main rooms I want to keep pretty minimalist. My philosophy is that a canvas can be anything you want it to be...until it is painted on. I like the thought of creating a neverending canvas, where people can graffiti the walls as they see fit, layering over each other's work and constantly creating a new one. I could put a lot of effort into creating my own murals and my own decorations, but then the painting is locked down, and I'd be putting in a ton of effort where I think other people would've enjoyed doing it for me.

All of that being said, I would love for one wall to be a crazy intricate blacklight painting! I think I can find an artist at one of the local colleges that would be excited to do such a big project. I am artistic, but my blacklight talents are still in the infant stage.
Continuing with minimalism, I do want there to be some seating. Nothing fancy - maybe wooden benches or literally just a a long rectantgular prism. No fabric, cause it's not going to stay clean haha. At least if a bench is painted it can be wiped down pretty easily.
One point that's important to me is that the DJ areas be on ground level. I don't want this to be a concert venue. I want everyone to be equals. I would rather have local DJ's that play and then walk out onto the dancefloor to jam with the rest of us during the next set.
As for lighting, in all three of the rooms I want the option of colored lighting and of course blacklights. Color-changing bulbs actually aren't that expensive. The way I picture it (if I was hosting an event) I would have each room saturated with a different color light, so when you enter a different room you enter an entirely new atmosphere, with different lighting and different music. It may be cheesy, but I've never gotten over how awesome Christmas lights are. So simple, yet so great! I would love to have some strung across the top of the walls, or even just a glow chord would do.
Next, the lounge-y room. There are so many options. This would be a place to go when you want to chill, talk, or just get away from the loud music for a bit. I think having a projector with Mario Kart and other games would be a lot of fun - like have it take up an entire wall. That brings the issue of seating while playing. I think non-porous bean bag chairs would be a good solution. Again, easily wiped down, and cheap to replace. In this room I'd splurge for couches (cheap ones!) that again have non-porous fabric (like durablend). I could put a ping pong table in there. And cover it in crazy blacklight designs and have a blacklight hanging directly above it! Some trippy ping pong =) BUT...possibly inhebriated people trying to run around and hit a ball may be an issue. I could create my own cheap ping pong table out of plywood and just put a smooth urethane coat on it, so that I can round on the corners and take away any sharp points that could gouge someone's eye out if (when) they slip while playing. It's probably not an option, but I'd love to cut some recesses into the walls (near the top) to put different lights in there, or even fishtanks! Those poor fish would die so fast haha. Okay, maybe no fishtanks.

More than anything, I WANT LAVA LAMPS =( But unfortunately they're hot, will surely burn someone's face off, and probably would be frowned upon by the local fire station. Boo.
Finally, I'm all about exploring other senses. Yeah sound and lights are awesome. But I do love the tactile. I want to incorporate a furry wall in there haha. If you've ever seen Get Him to the Greek you know why ;D Or a ball pit would be CRAZY AWESOME. But that's probably not a good idea either. I'm letting myself take this a little too far haha. Okay, I'll stop.
Thanks for reading!
